Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

The Kentucky Derby

Last Saturday was the Kentucky Derby. It seems like every year I miss the Derby because I'm booked to shoot a wedding, but this year I got lucky and had the day off so I drove to Denver to watch it in style at Govnr's Park, a favorite neighborhood bar, with my friend Jennifer. It was so much fun!  Orb was the big winner.  Of course the horse I was rooting for, Falling Sky, came in dead last. I can never pick 'em!

The Kentucky Derby is known as the greatest two minutes in sports.  It's been run every single year since 1875, so there are well over a century's worth of traditions associated with it, including the rather fun requirement that all the ladies wear a fancy hat to the race.  Plenty of people at Govn'rs Park were dressed in Derby style, and there was even a costume contest!  Jenn and I both wore hats (of course!) but didn't participate in the contest.  I thought this couple was especially cute with their Derby fashions.
