Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

The downtown post office

This photo was meant for Skywatch Friday yesterday, but I didn't get around to posting it. This is our main post office downtown, at 201 E. Pikes Peak Avenue. It's an imposing building, constructed in the Beaux Arts style between 1908 and 1910 on land donated by Winfield Stratton, an early Colorado Springs philanthropist, and dedicated to him. It's also listed on the National Historic Register, and though it's old, it functions as one of the busiest post offices in town.

Here's a picture of it in 1915 (my photo was taken of the west façade -- the right side of this picture)

And on a completely different note: today is Small Business Saturday. So all you holiday shoppers, don't forget to stop by your favorite locally owned shops and support the little guy!
