Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

The one-legged goose

Yesterday's picture of the duck pond at Monument Valley Park led to today's picture of one of its inhabitants. I noticed this Canada goose preening himself on the footpath and did a double take. At first I thought he was standing on one foot, like a flamingo, but then I realized that he only had one leg. Poor little guy. He let me get a bit closer so I could take some pictures of him from a few angles. I wonder how this happened to him. My best guess is that a predator got to him, possibly even a snapping turtle when he was still a gosling. I do feel a bit sorry for him but as you can see, he's quite robust, healthy and has apparently adapted very well to being a little handicapped. I suppose having a pair of working wings is certainly an advantage!

Poor thing. Well, he has adapted, and looks in good shape.

He should have brought out a Pink suit.
