Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

August 2014 Theme Day: Takeaway Store

Today is the first of the month, which means it's Theme Day for participating City Daily Photo bloggers! This month's theme is takeaway store. I had to ask my English, Scottish and Australian friends for clarification, since it's not a term we use here in the U.S. It turns out that there's a lot of room for interpretation, but basically a takeaway store is an establishment that sells food or drinks that are not necessarily meant to be consumed on site. My first thought was to photograph a food truck owned by my friends Kevin and Aaron, but since I didn't have time for that I decided to go with a much larger corporation. Yes, we're all familiar with Starbucks! I know that many people enjoy whiling away an hour or two in their local Starbucks, but I'm willing to bet that a much higher percentage of customers, myself included, prefer to take their drinks "to go".  As for me, I occasionally drink Starbucks coffee but I'm not a huge fan. (True fact: all I ever order is a tall decaf!) However you may feel about the brand, there's no denying that the green siren logo is here to stay. (Another true fact: according to THIS, there are 34 Starbucks stores in Colorado Springs. That's a lot.)

Starbucks is indeed almost everywhere, but not here yet! I'm not unhappy about that.

This will be one of more enduring logos of American businesses. Yes, they are everywhere!!

Absolutely Tamara, but can you believe we don't have one here in Perth yet :)

There are four or five on my campus, though in summer only two of them are open.

I can think of a place downtown where there might be ten within a five minute walk of each other.

PerthDailyPhoto, I read that Starbucks just has not gotten any traction in Australia because it doesn't appeal to the average Australian palate. William, in our downtown we've got two of them a block apart! Both of them are ALWAYS busy. But we've also got several more coffee establishments within a small radius and they stay very busy as well.

I find it hard to pass on a Chai Tea Latte from one of two Starbucks here in Coventry.

Now THIS is my kind of take-out. And sit in. And place to goof off. And place to meet folks to photograph. I roll between different Starbucks stores just to mix things up.
