Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Runaway truck

Yesterday I was driving north on Weber Street, and when I got to Kiowa Street the traffic light was dead, and this truck was the culprit. As you can see, the driver took the truck completely up onto the sidewalk, where it collided with the enormous pole that holds the crosswalk signal and a city street lamp, knocking it to the ground. I hope there were no pedestrians on the sidewalk when this happened! Getting hit by a truck this size, going fast enough to knock over a street lamp, would almost certainly kill you. What an idiot! I have three theories as to what caused this accident: 1) texting while driving; 2) the Colorado Springs Beer Fest was going on only a few blocks away, perhaps this driver had too many beers; 3) a combination of too many beers + texting and driving. Whatever caused it, it's ironic to me that the accident occurred literally almost on the steps of the Municipal Court Building. No doubt this yahoo will face his day in court mere yards from where he totaled his truck!

We do not know if the driver was drunk or ... gave him a sudden dizziness. It is dificult to know it.

Yikes! The truck was totaled. I wonder how fast the driver was going to knock over that street lamp. Oh well, I just hope that he was punished accordingly if he actually was driving while texting and/or intoxicated. Always drive carefully, people!
