Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Bird of prey

A week or two ago, Pat and I were heading out the door to run an errand when I saw a very large bird fly overhead and alight in our backyard maple tree. I realized right away that it was some kind of raptor. Pat identified it as a hawk. Magnificent! I wasn't armed with the right camera or lens to capture it in such low light, but I didn't dare run inside for better gear because I thought it would fly away, so I just took a picture with the camera I had in hand (I took this while standing in the front yard, shooting over the roof of our house). What an amazing thing to see in our own backyard, in the middle of the city!

Great shot. It reminds me of a Bev Dolittle painting.
