Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Sunday Style!

Yesterday evening Pat and I were downtown, and I was in the middle of taking a picture of something (something that was intended for today's style post, actually) when the unmistakable whine of a bagpipe startled us. Only a few feet away, a handful of Las Vegas firefighters were walking toward us, and one of them had chosen that moment to commence piping. I thought they all looked so cool in their kilts, I abandoned the photo I was taking and trained my lens on them instead!

For those of you wondering why the heck we randomly have kilt-wearing, bagpiping firefighters from Las Vegas wandering our downtown streets, it's not random at all -- this weekend is the annual Fallen Firefighter Memorial Weekend, in which firefighters from all over the continent descend upon Colorado Springs to commemorate their comrades lost in the line of duty. (Downtown is positively seething with firefighters as I type this. Hundreds of 'em partying, hanging out and having a good time.) The ceremonies take place every September in Memorial Park, only a few blocks from my house. Here's a link to more info if you're interested:  IAFF Fallen Firefighter Memorial.

And may I remind you that this post is supposed to be about style, so stop staring at their muscles, ladies ;^) Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Here's your proof that you can wear steel-toed boots with a kilt. ;^)

It's wonderful when one comes upon an opportunity for photos such as this one. Great pics and a terrific event.

Unusual kilts. We had a similar national service for our fire fighters last weekend here.
