Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

The Antlers is getting a makeover

Our iconic Antlers Hotel, a downtown fixture in one form or another for over a century, is getting a facelift. Look at that scaffolding -- how would you like to be the one who has to prep and paint this tall building? No thanks! I heard recently that the Antlers will be changing hands very soon; Perry Sanders, who also owns the gorgeous Mining Exchange Hotel two blocks to the east, will be the new proprietor. I'm glad that the Antlers is being revived. I can't wait to see what Sanders and his partner do with it!

That'll be a lot of work!

I like it when the owner takes care of a building so that everyone who sees it can feel proud of it and how it reflects on the neighborhood and/or the city. At the nearest intersection of my street with a thoroughfare, the ABC-affiliate is housed in an ugly building, to me it's ugly. Now it's been being repainted which helps just a little bit--the architecture is still ugly. Oh, well, at least it wasn't torn down--the building's been remodeled from its original use by the Jantzen clothing company, maybe they made swimsuits in there back in the day. I love the large windows that used to be on each wall--I've seen vintage photos.

Glad to hear this. Wasn't too impressed last time I stayed there. Nothing really wrong in a major way, but just nothing special.
