Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Nonviolence Works

© 2015 William Davis

My friend Bill took this picture a few days ago and posted it on Facebook. He graciously allowed me to post it on the blog today (which is doubly nice because I'm sick and stuck in bed with no chance to go out and take any pictures). I asked him to give me a little background information. In his words:

"I took the photo with my iPhone on Friday, Nov 20, at 12:25 pm, corner of Tejon and Vermijo. I was just walking up Tejon, saw the non-violence group and stopped to talk with them for a moment. Sadly I don't remember any of their names. Apparently they often hold up banners promoting peace and non-violence at various places around downtown. I asked if I could take their photo. My thought was that I might put it on FB, and maybe Instagram, just as a small message of peace in light of the recent shootings here, as well the horrible violence in Paris, etc. Somehow I was especially thinking of the recent shooting that took place not too far from there, which also involved random people just walking down the street or riding a bike. It almost seems as though the town has already forgotten that ever happened."

I agree with the message, Bill. Thanks for sharing this uplifting image!

Edit: It just occurred to me that the people in this picture are part of the Pikes Peak Justice and Peace Commission, a worthy organization indeed! You can read about them HERE.
