Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

The wonderful Mr. Stratton

Winfield Scott Stratton on his perch at Pikes Peak and Nevada, his gaze forever focused eastward. I don't think enough people in Colorado Springs know what a great guy Mr. Stratton was. He came from humble roots and struck it rich in the gold rush, then proceeded to help the poorest of our citizens with his vast fortune. He literally gave away his money to the desperate. To read about Mr. Stratton's generous deeds, check out THIS blog post from 2011. You can also visit the downtown Post Office, built on land sold by Mr. Stratton to the city at a fraction of its value, to see a small display of historical artifacts related to him.

A rare thing, striking it rich through prospecting and then helping others. Gold usually brought out the worst in people through the West.
