Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Would someone please explain...

...the reason for this strange behavior? Yesterday afternoon, Pat and I were driving past Memorial Park when we noticed hundreds, maybe even thousands of geese (and a smattering of ducks) all parked on the enormous lawn, hundreds of yards from their usual haunt, Prospect Lake. As you can see, it was snowing. They were just sitting there, not doing much of anything. This is not the first time I've seen a massive goose gathering at Memorial Park. I find it rather odd! I don't know if there is abundant food for the birds on the lawn during winter, but at any rate they didn't seem to be eating. Maybe one of my readers who's knowledgeable about waterfowl can explain this one in the comments!

It is curious, of course.

I have no idea, but all I can think about is the mess they must be leaving. I wouldn't want to walk around out there on that lawn after they leave! It is an amazing sight though.

We live by a lake and there have been hundreds, probably thousands, of geese over the last few days. They stay for hours before leaving. We believe they are migrating late this year.
