Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

A rare downside

Yes, it's wonderful living in Colorado Springs. There are so many things to love about it! One of the rare downsides of life in this city is the issue of stormwater. I snapped these photos on San Miguel Street and (I think) Arcadia on the way home from my studio a few days ago, after a sudden, heavy rainstorm. Scenes like this happen all over the city when we get a decent amount of rain -- and often, we get a lot more than a "decent" amount of rain, we get torrents! The stormwater issue is not a recent problem. It's been going on for decades, and it's gotten so bad that the city has been sued by the EPA. Thankfully, it looks like there are finally going to be some permanent solutions on the horizon. As for San Miguel Street, I think this particular spot was already in the process of being mitigated by city crews, and it looks like all their hard work was washed away in a matter of minutes. Sigh. One of these days we'll get the jump on stormwater.
