Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Where has Tamera been?

Oh faithful blog readers, I feel so bad to have abruptly stopped blogging last Wednesday! I always look forward to your visits and comments. The reason I dropped the ball is that I got really sick and spent several days in the hospital. At the Blondie concert on August 25th, my foot went through a gap in the floor right next to the stage, and my leg was lodged up to my shin. I ended up with a bruise and a little bit of "rug burn" on the inside of my left shin -- it didn't look that serious. But a week later it turned into a nasty infection. My doctor prescribed oral antibiotics but they didn't work very well. Then I shot a wedding for nine hours on September 5th, and by the time I got home I could see that I needed to go to the hospital. After a couple of trips to the ER over three days, they finally admitted me and gave me round the clock care.

I'm sad to say it will probably be at least two more weeks before I'm able to resume blogging here. I can't walk yet, and even if I could, I've got a backlog of "real" work that will keep me tied up for some time. But please don't forget to come back and visit! I promise to blog faithfully once I get back on track!

The photo above was taken by my friend Charlotte as I was receiving care in the ER. Yes I'm grinning like an idiot, but in reality I was scared to death, nauseated, in terrible pain, and very grateful to have my boyfriend Pat and my good friend Charlotte there to hold my hand.

Terra Verde

One of my all time favorite places to shop is Terra Verde, located on Tejon just north of Bijou, across from Acacia Park. They have every delightful thing you could want, from handmade soaps to girly cardigans to designer purses to chunky modern furniture to delicate earrings. EVERYTHING in there is to die for! I can't always afford the things I want (after all I have expensive tastes!), so I wait for their seasonal sales. But I can always afford to admire their artful window displays.

Guest blogger Chuck Goldsmith

It's Monday, that means guest blogger day! Today's gorgeous image was captured by my brother Chuck. Chuck is a total gear head and loves to go to exotic car shows. A couple of weeks ago he drove his BMW M3 all the way out to the coast for the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. This photo was taken from the famous 17 Mile Drive. Isn't it breathtaking?

Nice shot, Chuck! Thanks for sharing it here on the blog.

Shadow play

I took this photo in April, for the May 1st theme day (shadows), but it didn't quite make the cut. I really like the photo though. I've been waiting for an opportunity to use it on the blog. This is at the intersection Colorado and Tejon, by the Thirsty Parrot. I just love that directional, late afternoon sun. BTW that's Pat in the white t-shirt. He's always such a good sport about "modeling" for me.

The empty mall

I took this image at Chapel Hills Mall on July 18th while waiting for Pat to get his hair cut. The salon he goes to is on the upper level; right in front of it there's an atrium that gives you view to the lower level.

The mall is such a great place for people watching! Unfortunately July is a slow time for shopping, and I was in a less-trafficked area. I had to wait quite a while for someone to walk through my frame and make my picture.

The Colorado sky

Here's a photo from January 7th. Our skies here are so beautiful. I think there's nothing like a crisp, cold, winter-blue Colorado sky at 6,000 feet. Gorgeous.

A positively finful design

Here's another shot of yesterday's Chevy. Gotta love those big fins, baby!

I love vintage cars!

They just look so much better than their modern day counterparts. I snapped this shot of a '57 Chevy Bel Air last Monday in Fountain. Isn't it a beaut?
