Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

The Cliff House at Pikes Peak

I shot my last wedding of 2015 at this lovely place yesterday. The Cliff House at Pikes Peak, built in 1873, has a fascinating history. It's had several important guests in its time, including Clark Gable and Teddy Roosevelt -- and you can sleep in the suites they stayed in! And did you know that the Cliff House has been the victim of both flood and fire? (In 1921 and 1982, respectively.) I remember the inferno that nearly destroyed it. At some point in college, as an art major I did the obligatory cliché photo series of dilapidated buildings, and the charred Cliff House was one of my subjects. It sat for over a decade in a state of blackened decrepitude, until sometime in the 1990s the owners decided to bring it back to its former glory. It's looking just as gorgeous as ever these days! I did four weddings at the Cliff House this year, and I'm sure next year, as always, I'll be doing several there again (although I'm glad to have the rest of 2015 off from weddings -- I start right up again on January 1st!). It's one of my favorite places to work. You really can't take a bad picture of the Cliff House!

It is a beauty... good that they've restored it.
