Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

American Legion Post 5

Our local American Legion is located downtown on Platte Avenue, between Cascade and Tejon. There's a big cannon that sits in front of the building. It's hard to miss! For some reason, military organizations always seem to gravitate toward cannons when it comes to large, symbolic display pieces. Maybe it's because cannons are somewhat portable (they do, after all, have wheels), making them fairly easy to put into position for display; yet at the same time they're heavy and cumbersome, which makes them hard to steal or destroy. I imagine every city in the U.S. must have a building like this, with a cannon in front of it.

Canada has a Legion organization, so there are Legion Halls in every city and town. It's more rare to see something like this in front of one though.
