Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

The very decorated house (Part 2)

Here are a couple more views of yesterday's house. Click on the image to see it larger. You can see how much blood, sweat and tears went into decorating this home, and I couldn't even capture all of it with the lens I was using. To the left (out of the frame) are more trees, giant snow globes, an enormous penguin... you get the idea. It must have taken a week to do all this! When you consider just the lights on the roof alone you can see how much work it must have been. And I can't imagine how long it will take to tear all this down and pack it away after the holidays. Now that's dedication!

In Colorado Springs we like to say "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes," because it can change dramatically in a matter of minutes. The running joke is that you can have all four seasons in the same day. So yesterday as you can see was frigid and snowy all day, and today was the exact opposite: it was warm and sunny, and all that snow is completely melted away now!

Oh my goodness. Haven't they heard of energy conservation? Okay, okay, I'll stop being a killjoy. It's fantastic, but only if you like this kind of stuff. (Sorry, I can't help it! I like simple and elegant. And this is neither.)

Your weather sure sounds difficult to live with everyday.

LOL Hilda, there's never a dull moment weather-wise at this altitude!

I'm going to go out on a limb, here, and guess that this homeowner is an engineer, or maybe a retired Marine. No artist would have the patience or even desire to create all those straight lines. Not me, anyways.

I think Colorado front range weather is kind of neat. You get the seasons, for sure, but you still have so much sun, even in the winter. Plus, it's a "dry cold" (which makes the powdery snow, right?), not that wet, bone-aching cold they get in places like Chicago or even Kansas City, for that matter, where they have ice storms as often as snow storms.

Now, if you get in the car and drive east for about 5 hours, now you've found some truly lousy weather! haha

Today we had 60 degrees, it was perfect! I'm sure tomorrow will be another story. Never a dull moment!
