Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Graupel?

Today's post is a video rather than a photo, since I thought it would be easier to show you yesterday's strange weather that way! This footage was taken as I was waiting my turn at Dutch Brothers Coffee. We've had a long run of sunny, dry and warm weather these last couple of weeks, so much so that I was kind of longing for a dreary, rainy day. I got what I asked for, in spades. Mostly we got rain here in town, alternating with this rather unusual weather phenomenon called graupel. Basically it's a cross between snow, hail and rain, and it looks like little styrofoam pellets. Colorado Springs is no stranger to bizarre weather so this is not the first time I've seen graupel, but I still think it's weird looking. I won't complain, though -- the higher elevations got snow!
