Mammatus clouds over Colorado Springs
On Tuesday afternoon I was taking a little break from my studio to get a quick bite to eat, and as I was driving I noticed these striking mammatus clouds forming to the east. I've never in my life seen mammatocumulus. It's quite a rare phenomenon. Luckily I had a camera with me and got a good shot of the dramatic sky. Very cool!

Wow! That is an amazing picture Tamera.
I saw those kind of clouds a couple of times in Colorado ... I never knew they had a name! I'm so glad you captured them - and gave us the technical info! They really are amazing.
How cool. I would have loved to have witness this in person.
