Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

J. Mijares Violins

Did you know that we have a violin maker in Colorado Springs?  I certainly didn't! At least not until Pat, who is a mail carrier, delivered to this tiny shop tucked away in a downtown alley and told me about it.  (Such an old world craft -- it somehow seems appropriate that it should be a little hard to find, don't you agree?) Apparently it's been there since 1987, and heck in those days I used to work practically across the street! I also didn't know that a violin maker is called a luthier, and a violin shop is called a lutherie. Fascinating! You learn something new every day.

I guess they can't afford a sign for their hours.

Randy, he probably has a very serious core group of customers (no doubt most of them in the Philharmonic!) who have him on speed dial ;^) He doesn't need a sign! LOL!

And now I learned something new today, too! Such an unusual profession. I love the old world feel of the door, the sign, and the roof.
