Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

The Castle at Glen Eyrie

Did you know that we have a castle in Colorado Springs? Located adjacent to the Garden of the Gods, it's called Glen Eyrie, and it was built by our city's founder, General William Jackson Palmer, as a gift to his beloved wife Mary, affectionately known as Queen. General Palmer resided there until his death in 1909. It's a beautiful place, and beautifully maintained. Even though it's privately owned by the Navigators, the public are welcome to visit Glen Eyrie, and you really should go if you're in the neighborhood. You can visit the grounds anytime (it's free!), and tours of the perfectly restored interior are available if you call in advance. You can even stay overnight, and they do an afternoon tea service that's a lot of fun (and tasty!). I've done tea and a tour there and I highly recommend it. If you're a Colorado Springs history nerd like me, you'll find it fascinating!

I had to include this funny sign in their parking lot. The hazards of parking in Colorado Springs! ;^)

It is a beautiful edifice!

Interesting building. There's one in Phoenix that just doesn't fit in where they built it.

I've been there. Very enjoyable time...someone in our family had a tea time bridal shower there. It may be a private place, but very accessible, which is nice.
