I've photographed him before, but never at such close proximity. I managed to get within about 20 feet or so of this beautiful great blue heron last Sunday. What an elegant creature. He was even more impressive in flight. His wing span must be six feet! I caught a glimpse of him a on Thursday afternoon, too, winging his way gracefully across the sky just west of my studio. Gorgeous.
