Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

The Old Town Guesthouse

This looks like an old building, but the Old Town Guesthouse (26th and Cucharras) was actually constructed in 1997 and fits in well with its surroundings in Old Colorado City. Their website notes that it occupies the site of the old city hall, fire station and jail, but I'm not so sure about the city hall part of that statement. As far as I know (and I could be wrong), Old Colorado City only ever had one city hall, and it's still standing -- in fact, it houses the Agia Sophia coffeehouse and the Daisy in a Bottle Boutique. At any rate, I never knew that this building was new construction, I thought it was an old building that had been completely gutted and remodeled. I've lived here since long before it was built, but I guess I never noticed what was there before it! I've always liked the copper and purple color scheme. Very eye catching!

EDIT:  I stand corrected! The original city hall (built in 1888) was only used for that purpose for a brief amount of time and is still standing; another city hall/jail/firehouse was built shortly thereafter, where the Old Town Guesthouse now resides. You learn something new every day!

It's quite distinctive.
