A secret garden

Last week my mom asked me to drive her to a friend's house, CJ. As it turned out CJ and her husband Ken have a beautiful backyard and garden. Glad I brought my camera with me! I love it when people have a perfectly nice front yard but an AMAZING backyard. It's kind of like a secret grotto, a private little paradise. Ken made many of the things that you see in these pictures. What a handy guy! (Not to mention creative.) And CJ's a great gardener! In fact, I went back there today to give her a few plants from my own garden. Maybe next year I'll get a chance to see how they're doing!

This little contemplation garden is dedicated to CJ's late mother, who coincidentally was my neighbor for years. Her favorite color was blue.

I would love to have a bench like this but it's one of a kind -- Ken made it!

There's even a water feature! I'd love to have a water feature in my backyard some day. Something Japanese garden-y.
