Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

You-Ka Café

I had lunch last week at the You-Ka Café, on the east side of town near Powers and North Carefree. As far as I know, it's the only "sit down" Filipino restaurant in town, and I'm a regular, or as much as I can be, considering that's pretty far out of my orbit. I always order the pancit bihon because I'm a vegetarian. Pretty much everything else there is for carnivores. You should really try this restaurant, particularly if you've never had Filipino food before. Filipino cuisine is delicious! If you're a first timer, I recommend pork sisig. If you're feeling adventurous, try ube for dessert (pronounced OO-beh). Or get the leche flan. It's sooooooooooo good! Oh and the owners of the You-Ka Café are incredibly nice, too! It's an all around great place!

It's the holidays, and as I do every year, I urge you to do at least some of your holiday spending at mom and pop places, particularly on Small Business Saturday! If you're going out for lunch or dinner, hit up a place like the You-Ka Café instead of Yet Another Predictable and Corporate Chain Restaurant. I and other small business owners thank you for your holiday custom!

There's probably a restaurant or two here that do Filipino cuisine, but I haven't had it.
