My good friend Steph recently moved to Florissant, about 35 or 40 miles west of Colorado Springs, on the other side of Pikes Peak. It's quite a drive, and since both she and her husband work in the city they are logging many miles on their daily commutes now, but it's worth it because it's beautiful where they live. So quiet! I finally got a chance to drive up the pass and see her new house today, and on the way back home I stopped for a moment to take a picture of this structure near the Florissant Fossil Beds. I'm not sure exactly what it is. It looks like an old schoolhouse or church, but my guess is that it's a modern barn or similar outbuilding. The weather vane on the roof is shaped like a bee or a wasp.
Below is a picture that I took from Steph's front porch. So nice! I wouldn't mind waking up to a couple of acres of treed seclusion like this every morning. Congratulations on your new home, Steph and Ernest! I'm so happy for you!

I would think it was once a schoolhouse.
