Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Cookie Cutter Car

Cookie cutter in that it's literally made of cookies! This life sized gingerbread car at the Broadmoor is part of their Christmas display. It's an homage to a real car, the Broadmoor Special, a 1918 Pierce Arrow that first raced in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in 1922. The Broadmoor Special was owned by Spencer Penrose and driven by his chauffeur, Harry McMillan, who finished 9th. Not bad for a chauffeur! He ended up racing the car again a few years later, coming in 4th, and after that one of the Broadmoor Garage mechanics, Angelo Cimino, took over behind the wheel, competing in the Hill Climb six more times and finishing respectably I might add. Quite a historic car!

Very impressive. The cookie car and the real one. The Ritz Carlston in Naples features a huge gingerbread house every year but I didn't go to see it this year.

The cookie car is quite a showstopper.
