Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

The Kernerator

Pat and I were cruising through the San Isabel National Forest last weekend when we came across this derelict chimney near one of the camp areas. The house is long gone but somehow the old chimney stack has survived all these years. I got a close up of the incinerator door, and out of curiosity I googled the word Kernerator when I got home. It turned out to be a Wisconsin company from the early 20th century, a time when it was very common to simply burn your trash. Even more interesting, the company appears to still be around, but I think they now mainly produce incinerators for industrial use.
This ad is from about 1920.
