I was with Frodo, our dog, in the parking lot across the street from my studio last week when I noticed this very strange object. I was completely befuddled so I took a picture of it for the blog, thinking maybe some kind reader could clue me in to its meaning. It took me a few days but I figured it out for myself -- I think it's meant to measure snowfall! What an odd place to put it, at the entrance to the parking lot of what was long ago a Montgomery Ward and is now the administrative offices of Memorial Hospital. (By the way, did you know that Montgomery Ward still exists? HERE's their site.) Funny how I've never noticed before, since it's only a few yards from my building! Anyway, now I know where to go if I want to know exactly how much snow has fallen.

That makes sense.
Good grief no, I didn't know it still existed. I have bookmarked the site. Ha. As for the snow-meter, or whatever, I don't quite understand it. It just measures how much has fallen on the dish it sits on? Hm. OK.
Well, thanks!
If and when it snows you will have to go back for an update view.
