I took this picture while on a portrait shoot downtown on Monday. This is the crowning glory of the Pioneers Museum, its lovely cupola and clock, which still faithfully tells us the time after more than a century of service.
I haven't mentioned Wednesday's despicable coup attempt on the blog yet, mostly because I've been at a loss for words. How could this happen in our beautiful democracy? I simply cannot believe it. Days later I'm still filled with shock, disgust and horror. This is the stuff of a bad movie plot, not reality. But our outgoing president has worked his brainwashed followers into such an angry froth, the worst has actually come to pass. I'm only glad that more people weren't injured or killed, and that the perpetrators stupidly live streamed and openly posted their feats on social media so they can be tracked down and arrested. And prosecuted. I hope to never see something like this again in my lifetime. I never want to hear from Donald Trump again. He has done too much damage. The time has come to be rid of this vile excuse for a human being.

Well, yes. It takes some time to take in exactly what happened. But it wasn't a big surprise. I just hope we can get past it. I think we can, and rationality can become mainstream. But maybe not. Get through the next 10 days, or however long it is, and see if things will calm down.
Nothing like almost a year of covid and then a mob storming the capitol to interfere with government process. Sheesh. I am still reeling.
Meanwhile, that's a rather interesting assortment of architectural styles on that clock tower, but it's all very pleasant! I LIKE clock towers. Of course I guess they haven't been very useful since wristwatches were invented....but they're nice. Community oriented. Which I find nice.

It was shocking. Reminds me of how I felt after 911. Wanting to see more about it on the news and then feeling sick at what I saw.
