Headstones like this one in Fairview Cemetery are so sobering. Think of the pain these parents must have endured, to lose one son on the day he was born and, a mere 14 months later, another infant son. Very sad. I know that even today not all babies survive birth or infancy, but the mortality rate was much higher at the turn of the century.
