I had some free time yesterday morning, and since the weather was mild I thought it'd be nice to stop in the Garden of the Gods for a few minutes for some peace and quiet. But when I reached the High Point it was anything but quiet. There was a large group of teenagers gathered, all of them with sketch pads but none of them actually sketching. Instead, they were socializing loudly, the volume of their voices escalating as they strove to be heard over the very din that they were creating. I quickly apprehended that this was a high school art class on a field trip, and thankfully they left not long after I arrived. Peace and quiet were restored. God bless the teachers of the world for their patience -- imagine such a cacophony in an enclosed space like a classroom! I can tolerate that level of teenage noise and energy for only a few minutes, especially in large groups.
