This year I decided to grow all of my herbs in pots on the patio rather than in the main potager, and since for once I didn't notice any volunteers (dill will volunteer like crazy every year in the most unexpected places), I bought a vigorous plant during one of my visits to City Floral a month or two ago. This is a different variety from the gangly variety of dill I normally grow. It's more of a low, bushy form, and the taste is much more subtle. It seems to be doing well in this pot. And of course, now that this lovely dill plant is established and thriving, I found my volunteers -- in the lawn!
