Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Skyscraper

This is what passes for a skyscraper in Colorado Springs. The Wells Fargo building is maybe 15 stories high. Why don't we have any buildings taller than that around here? The view, of course! We don't want to block the sight of our beautiful mountains, and I'm okay with that. I guess you can say we're a big city with a low profile.

A clever city.

Surely some developers are already at work with ideas for high rise very expensive apartments, etc. I would be surprised if they weren't.

@JudithK there are tons of new apartment buildings going up everywhere, but none of them are more than five stories high. I saw a YouTube video explaining this phenomenon last year. Something to do with national building codes and the materials used.

I'm pretty sure this is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrxZqPVFTag It's interesting! And our city is basically covered in these buildings now, for better or for worse.

I watched it! You're right, it was interesting. Thank you. I live in a hundred year old house, wood. It's still a good house, but yep, flammable. Oh well. I wouldn't mind an apartment with a view and a balcony at my age; have a problem? - call the landlord, ha. (None like that available around my tiny town, haha.) Anyway, thanks. And now we know!
