Pat and I went to the annual Denver Powwow a couple of weekends ago. You don't have to be Indian to go, everyone is welcome but yes, nearly everyone there is Indian. I've been to powwows before but not this one (although Pat has attended it several times). It was HUGE. There were thousands of dancers and drummers competing, from places as far flung as Saskatchewan. It was so cool! If you ever get a chance to go to a powwow, you should. It's a great experience.

I wrote another comment on the City Daily Photo page on FB. Ever I started to travel to India, I've become careful to use Native American for the indigenous people attending powpows, etc. No offense meant! Some people though might get miffed. :)
Native Americans on balance prefer "Indian" (not sure why, but that's what I've been told by someone who's part of the culture).
