Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Wooglin's Deli

The Colorado College is a small, private liberal arts college located smack in the middle of downtown. I think they only have about 2,000 students there, which makes it a pretty exclusive little school compared to the likes of my alma mater, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (with closer to 10,000 students). There are some positives and some negatives to having 2,000 liberal arts students concentrated in our small downtown. One of the positives is Wooglin's Deli, located on the corner of Tejon and Cache la Poudre Streets. Wooglin's is a favorite hangout of CC students since it's practically on campus, but it's also beloved to downtowners in general.

I think every college town has their version of this place. In Fort Collins there's a place called Avo's; in Denver near DU there's Kaladi Brothers; in Boulder there used to be the Yellow Submarine (alas, I think it's now long gone, and I'm not hip enough to tell you what the student hangout in Boulder is these days). Wooglin's has bad student art on the walls, reggae music playing in the background and hippie types manning the counter. It's the best place in town for a sandwich, bar none. My favorite is the T.A.B. (turkey-avocado-bacon), three inches thick and super filling. It's a little pricey but definitely worth the occasional splurge. It's a whole lotta sandwich!

I went in a couple of days ago for a T.A.B. to go. While I was waiting for my order I noticed this little vignette of characters stuck to the napkin dispenser. I don't know what the owl is for (does he serve a purpose, or is he just cute?), but I like the little skateboarding monster behind him.

Entertaining, but I hope they aren't trying to scare people away from the food! :)

Those are really cute little characters! We have some of these kinds of places too since Tallahassee is home to FSU (41,000), Fla A&M (12,000) and TCC (12,000). My favorite is a place called Fat Sandwich.
