Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Steller's jay

Pat and I spied this gorgeous bird in Cheyenne Cañon on April 23rd. I managed to get a decent picture of it, but neither of us had any idea what kind of bird it was. I had to do a little internet sleuthing to figure it out. It's a Steller's jay Macrolopha, and apparently they are native to this area, but this is the first time I've ever seen one. Beautiful!

It has such a vivid shade of blue to it. We don't get that kind of jay here, just blue and gray jays, which both have real character.

Beautiful capture!
