This image was captured on October 4th, 2008 at exactly the right time of day. I set off with Pat to reach this very spot, with the intention of photographing it at the moment the sun was kissing the horizon, and amazingly we arrived at the perfect moment. It was almost like we had timed it to the millisecond. This beautiful spot is actually private property, and if you look closely you can see a few horses grazing in the field beyond the bend in the river (I think it's the Platte River). I am standing on a bridge shooting downward. There is a barbed wire fence to keep the horses in the pasture and off the road.
The next little town down the road is Pine, Colorado, which is so tiny as to be almost nonexistent, and beyond that is Conifer. If you turn right at Conifer, you'll eventually end up in Denver. This is one of our favorite drives on a nice day.
[P.S. Just wanted to give a shout out to my mom: Happy birthday Mama!]
