Surfin' USA

[Image #2 from our vacation.] I grabbed this shot from the San Clemente pier. According to Pat, surfers like to surf around piers because the waves are bigger. There were lots of surfers taking advantage of the great waves that day, but this guy was the best of the bunch.

Beautiful shot - the green and white of the wave leading the eye to the surfer in red and black!

Having grown up near the beach, I can say that Pat is right about the surfers and the pier. My high school was 3 blocks from the ocean, so I had many surfer friends who loved to "shoot the pier" as they called it. I always thought it looked a little dangerous!

Lois, I kept thinking one of them was going to crash into a pylon or something! But nothing bad happened. They were all pretty good surfers.
