It's not so much a pagoda as it is a pagoda-like structure, but I'll just call it a pagoda, if you don't mind. I'm sure about a zillion people drive past this pagoda in the middle of the median on Nevada Avenue at Bijou Street every day, and they probably have no idea what it's doing there. For years I've been meaning to photograph it, and last week I finally parked my car and stood in the median and did it. I'm sure the people driving by were thinking, "Why is that lady taking pictures of that pagoda?", but I didn't care. I thought the sky looked really nice.
Anyway, I've always known that the pagoda is there to commemorate the sister city relationship between Colorado Springs and Fujiyoshida, Japan, but I didn't realize that it's been there since 1966! It's in pretty good shape for being almost 50 years old! (Come to think of it, it really does have that midcentury vibe, don't you think?) By the way, did you know that we have several sister cities? You can read more about them HERE.

Almost every city in the world has twinning.

It stands out quite well, and makes for a good photo subject.
