Did you know that we have a Greek Orthodox Church in Colorado Springs? (We also also have an Eastern Orthodox church that's really cool looking -- I posted it about that one years ago, but it deserves a better picture so I'll get to it again one of these days.) Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church is located in the quiet Patty Jewett neighborhood at 2215 Paseo Road, just a few blocks from my studio. I drive by it all the time but have never been inside. Every summer they do a Greek Festival. This year it's on August 19th, 20th and 21st, and I think I'll try to go and check it out. It's always fun to get a taste of a different culture. And a taste of a different culture's food!
Mark your calendar for this year's Greek Festival!

It is a sweet looking little church with wonderful stone work. I like to visit churches wherever I vacation because you learn a lot about the local culture that way. Oh, yes, the food==terrific, isn't it?!
It has a rather western look to it. There's an Orthodox church here as well that does a Greek festival at some point in the summer.
