Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

The Garden of the Gods is for lovers

Tonight it's freezing cold and spitting snow, but yesterday was the most gorgeous, gorgeous day, with the kind of perfect weather we're famous for. I decided to take a spin through the Garden of the Gods. It was my day off and I needed a little time in my happy place. Alas, I found myself surrounded by very slow driving tourists and generally annoying people (including a family with a toddler that would not stop crying), so instead of having a nice, serene time sitting alone on a rock and taking in the sun, I had a grumpy time sitting on a rock five feet away from everyone else and having to listen to their conversations. I was surrounded. And I couldn't even hike away from all the people because my right foot is injured and stubbornly refuses to heal. Bummer! This affected my picture taking. When I'm grumpy, I'm not very creative. But as I was making my escape, these couples made me smile. It was a nice day indeed to be with your sweetie. I guess I should have brought mine, maybe I wouldn't have been so grumpy!

I'm a little conflicted about this. Warmest congratulations to Billy and Jess, but did you have to write on the Garden of the Gods? Even if it is only chalk. And it's big, too, probably about four feet across. In all these years I've never seen anyone deface any of the rocks. There's a lot of very old graffiti permanently scratched into some of the rocks lower in the park, but I'm pretty sure that it's all artifacts from another era. These days people tend to be a little more aware and respectful. At least this will eventually wash off!

I agree with you about the chalk graffiti. A beautiful spot to spend time in.

Inspiring photos! (I imagine what you would have gotten if you were not grumpy!)
