Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

April 2019 Theme Day: Yellow

It's already Theme Day again! This month's theme is yellow. For the whole year we'll be doing colors as our themes (you may have noticed that last month it was green, and in February it was white). When I found out what this month's was going to be, it sounded awfully familiar, and that's because we actually have done yellow as an April theme before, in 2009! So exactly ten years ago I had the same task, to find something yellow in our city to make a picture of, and I found it only a few blocks away from the first time around. This little café is located across the street from the county courthouse. I had to go and drop off our ballots (tomorrow is election day), and told myself that the first substantially yellow thing that I saw would be my subject. On the way to Centennial Hall I drove past the Corner Café on Vermijo, and that particular shade of chrome yellow is hard to miss. This is a challenging hue; slightly green but not enough to be chartreuse. I've actually used this building as a location for a photo shoot recently (HERE, for the curious), and I had made a mental note to photograph it for the blog sometime. There's no time like the present!

I like the sign!

I've already been taking shots for future theme days. The orange and rainbow ones later in the year might be a bit problematic.

I have an orange car, so I think at least I've got that one sewn up ;-)
