Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Spring Snow

We had a spring storm yesterday that dumped a ton of wet, heavy snow all over the city. It wasn't the nice, fluffy, powdery stuff, it was the soggy, messy kind of snow. Branches were snapping off trees everywhere, unable to bear the weight. Unfortunately, the majestic maple in our backyard, which we had heavily pruned by a professional tree service last week, sacrificed a ton of branches to this storm. So now it's really lost its beautiful, leafy volume, and I'm terribly sad about that. Also, around midnight one of those branches landed on a power line that serves our house, so we went without heat for twelve hours or so. That was a bummer, but truly the worse bummer is the state of our trees, especially my beloved maple, which is roughly 70 years old. 😢

The photo above was taken by my friend Stephanie, and as you can see, her backyard is littered with broken branches too. What a mess! The photo below shows a Colorado Springs Utilities employee hard at work fixing the power line in our yard, and the bottom photo shows you just how much the trees behind our property disliked having all that heavy snow weighing them down.

Supposedly we're looking at a nice an sunny weekend a few days from now. I think we earned it.

So sorry about your trees. I was in CS a few weeks ago and experienced the pretty, fluffy little bit of snow at the end of April. Now that storm was fun!
