Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Duck Duck Go

My brother Chuck told me he'd heard there has been a great blue heron hanging out at Nancy Lewis Park lately, so today I stopped by there to see if I could get a shot of it. Alas, no such luck, but I did find some other photogenic waterfowl! This pair seemed to be enjoying the spray from the fountain in the middle of the pond. I wasn't exactly sure what kind of ducks they were, so I looked it up and I think they are just regular ol' mallards sporting eclipse plumage, which is curious because from what I'm reading, eclipse plumage doesn't happen until after breeding season, and there were other male mallards on the lake with the deep green feathers that we're all familiar with. Someone who knows stuff about ducks, please explain!
