My second of two posts on a couple of famous bikes that Pat and I went to check out at the local Harley-Davidson dealership. This is another build by Indian Larry, and it's called Grease Monkey. Indian Larry died after crashing it, the result of a stunt gone wrong. He wasn't just a bike builder, he was also a stunt rider, and he was famous for a trick in which he stood up on the seat of his moving motorcycle and held out his arms in a crucifix pose. When he performed that stunt one fateful day in 2004 on Grease Monkey, it began to wobble and he fell off, hitting his head on the pavement. He died two days later in the hospital.
Despite its grim history, you have to admire this unique machine with its trademark Indian Larry flourishes. I don't know which of the two bikes I like better, this one or the one I featured in yesterday's post. They're both really cool!
