Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Ghost Town

I went downtown today to see for myself exactly how bad things have gotten. And it's very, very bad. Nothing but empty parking spots and locked businesses on Tejon Street. It was eerie. I took this picture at 3:17pm. Downtown should have been bustling with people and cars. Instead it was a ghost town. I'm sure this scene is being repeated worldwide right now.

The Coronavirus has been ruinous to so many small businesses, including mine, which has in a matter of days just completely cratered. I'm probably going to have to get a day job if I can (which may affect my ability to blog much, so prepare yourselves, dear readers!). I don't know a single person who isn't being affected by this, and neither do you. I have close friends in Italy whose hotel will have to close. Just like that, over 20 years of their lives, the blood, sweat and tears that went into their pride and joy, just gone. I'm worried about my family here and in the Philippines. I'm worried about everything.

I'm sure you're feeling the same way. It's all any of us are thinking about now. All we can do is stay in our homes as much as possible and try not to get the virus, try not to pass it on to anyone else. Please stay safe, help your vulnerable loved ones and neighbors, and try to stay positive. We will get through this!

And now, for your listening pleasure...

Sending love, light, prayers your way dear photographer! I am worried my 95 year old mom in CS will catch the virus. At this point I can’t even visit her - they are not allowing visitors into her independent living building (MacKenzie Place across from Nancy Lewis Park).

Katie from Maryland (you took my son’s senior photos 3-4 years ago)

Hi Katie! (You don't have to explain who you are, I'm very fond of you and Partha!) I hope your mom is okay. I feel so helpless sometimes, with all this going on. My mom is 84 and I forbade her from going ANYWHERE. I am doing errand running for her, and for my elderly neighbors. I just can't wait for this to finally be in our collective rear view mirror.

Sending you lots of positive vibes! Stay safe! Tamera

Similar conditions here at present. It is a very anxious time.

Yes, hard all round the whole world. Harder for some than others. I'm an oldie (or as the new term I recently learned, a "crumblie" in Britain, and I like it very much, think it is funny) and staying in most of the time from people places. I send you my best and hope things go as well as they can. Take care of your own self in the midst of all the helping!!
