Columbine is our state flower, so of course it grows very well here. It comes in a seemingly endless array of hybridized colors now, but my favorite is the natural purple-blue that grows in the wild, the columbine we're known for here in Colorado. Like the gaillardia in Monday's post and the feverfew in yesterday's, I planted my columbine from seed and allowed it to naturalize and propagate. Such beautiful, delicate blooms!

All varieties of columbine are lovely to me. As is this one. Texas has only one native...pure yellow, and in good years, it thrives and looks great, yours seems to be doing very nicely indeed.
