Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

December 2024 Theme Day: Slow

It's already Theme Day again! Participating City Daily Photo bloggers around the world give their take on a specific subject on the first day of every month, and this month's theme is slow. I was honestly pretty stumped until I looked at what was right in front of my nose. I haven't been feeling well the last couple of days (more on that tomorrow) so I've been passing the time by doing jigsaw puzzles, which I generally enjoy. This is my third puzzle of the weekend. It's 1,000 pieces depicting our national parks and monuments. Sounds like fun, right? It started out fun and then... allow me to explain. The bottom part of the puzzle is basically a legend listing all the national monuments and parks that are on the map, so I figured it'd be easiest to start with that. It went quickly, since I could literally read the names of the various parks on the puzzle pieces for the most part, although no complete name fit on any single piece. Very soon I had used up all the pieces that had recognizable park names (i.e. Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Yosemite, etc.). Unfortunately this left me with dozens of nearly identical blue puzzle pieces with fragments of the three following words: park, national, monument. It took HOURS to find homes for all of those pieces. Thankfully I'm now past that part of the puzzle and am now faced with dozens of border pieces that feature the same heavy orange and black band, with either a blue background or a green background and no other identifying features. Sigh. Do a puzzle, they said. It'll be relaxing, they said. I'll tell you what it is: slow!
