Ballooning is a big part of the culture here in Colorado Springs. The Balloon Classic is held every year over Labor Day weekend at Memorial Park, a few blocks from my house. I've attended numerous times, mostly under duress because you have to wake up very early in the morning if you want to attend! It's always an amazing sight to see the balloons being inflated and taking flight. It's pure magic.
This year Labor Day weekend for me was a busy one -- I spent the Saturday shooting a wedding, after which I ended up in the hospital emergency room for over eight hours (see this post for an explanation). A little after 8:30am on Sunday morning as Pat was driving me home, I snapped this photo of balloons floating in the sky. I apologize for the poor quality -- I shot it through the windshield of my car, plus I was on happy drugs ;o)

Well I'm glad you at least got to take a photo from the car! The only drawback to balloon fests is the early launching. :(
It's a beautiful picture! We don't have a balloon festival here, but usually on clear mornings you will see a balloon or two floating by. My grandson and I love to get up early and go for a walk and look for balloons.
Fantastic photo Tamera! It's such a perfect postcard!
