Just a few last cars to share! These were all so cool. I especially like the vintage pedal car, even though I'm not crazy about the color. I think it was from the 1940s.

I have a few more car pictures to share with you today and tomorrow from the fiesta and car show in Memorial Park a couple of weekends ago. My favorite from this bunch is definitely the Marilyn Monroe themed ride. It's awesome!

Fiesta and Car Show in Memorial Park (Part 3)

I'm more of a Ford person than a Chevy person, but I have to say I love this red Impala. Look at that gorgeous interior! I prefer vintage cars that are perfectly restored, or "stock," over chopped, lowered and very customized vehicles. That said, of course the latter is pretty cool, too, and I think some even approach the level of being art. More pictures of the many cool vehicles on display at the fiesta and car show at Memorial Park on April 29th. Most were low riders, but there were a few hot rods and rat rods too, and even a VW Squareback. Oh and some tricked out bikes. Enjoy!

Fiesta and Car Show in Memorial Park (Part 1)

Last week was Cinco de Mayo, and in the run up to that there was a fiesta and car show on April 29th at Memorial Park. Since this was a celebration of Mexican culture, I expected to see some amazing low riders, and I wasn't disappointed! You should have seen all the cool cars! There were some killer tricked out motorcycles too, and even bicycles. Here's a sampling. I'll post more tomorrow.

Some ducks enjoying a summer day at Prospect Lake on August 16, 2020. At least it seems like they're enjoying it, though clearly there must have been a big wildfire burning somewhere in the American west when I took this. Look at that yellowy haze hanging over the mountains. That can only mean one thing.

Balloon Glow 2021

As promised, a few snaps of the balloon glow. Some of these were taken with a camera and some with my cell phone. There was a huge turnout; the crowd was thick. It was nice to be able to enjoy a large local public event again.

End of Summer

Every year on Labor Day weekend (except last year, of course), there's a big balloon event at Memorial Park called the Labor Day Lift Off, formerly known as the Balloon Classic. The highlight for many is the balloon glow, and you have to admit it's pretty cool to see them illuminated at twilight like this! Here'a little teaser from this year's event. I'll post more tomorrow.

Pat and I hit up Prospect Lake on the evening of August 16th in hopes of getting a good sunset photo. With all the wildfires in Colorado these last couple of weeks, the only real upside has been the dramatic skies as the sun dips behind the mountains each night. Unfortunately this night the sunset was a dud (I guess it was too hazy), but the light was very dramatic anyway and I got some nice pictures of the geese and ducks doing their thing.

Coronavirus Testing in Colorado Springs

This Covid-19 testing site is located on Parkside Drive, a block or so south of Union Boulevard at Memorial Park. You will need a doctor's order in order to get tested.

Generals and Majors

It's Navy and Marines in the above photo -- another great monument in Memorial Park. I don't know what the one in the second picture is about, but since it has wings I'm going to guess it's the Air Force. I wonder if the Coast Guard is represented in Memorial Park too. I know we're landlocked here in Colorado, but my brother served in the Coast Guard and he lives here, and I'm sure he's not the only one. Those guys are badasses too. They deserve a memorial as much as anyone else. I'll have to check for one the next time I'm at the park.
